Good morning from the middle of nowhere…where the Wi-Fi is weak, the spirit is strong, and the gain staging never ends. I’m running sound at a youth retreat this week, and nothing reminds you of real agility quite like live worship with 150 teenagers and a band that doesn't believe in static setlists.
And it’s got me thinking:
Maybe it’s time we stop calling it Agile and start calling it Nimble.
Because “Agile” has become a brand. A checklist. A ceremony.
But Nimble—that’s movement with meaning.
It’s when your piano player decides he’s actually a guitarist today and you have 30 seconds to reroute his talkback mic.
When the creative team suddenly wants multitrack recordings mid-set and you’re hot-swapping SD cards like it’s a hostage negotiation.
When a Spanish-speaking student registers last-minute and you’re scrambling to rig up a translation solution out of sheer will and available cables.
When the bass player’s channel starts popping during pre-service prayer and the countdown is at 5 mins…
That’s not in the sprint backlog. That’s not part of a framework.
That’s you—listening, adapting, responding.
Just like Spider-Man with a soundboard. 🕷️🎚️
You don’t succeed out here by sticking to the plan. And believe me, there was a plan.
You succeed by reading the room, feeling the moment, and making the next right adjustment.
And really, it’s biblical.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
— Proverbs 16:9
Nimble is what happens when you trust the process, but follow the prompting.
It’s messy. It’s real. It’s not Agile theater.
And we’ve done it since the dawn of time—long before million-dollar consultancies showed up with swimlanes and slide decks.
So wherever you are today—backlog grooming, roadmap aligning, or just brewing your third cup of coffee—remember:
✨ You don’t need a sprint to be Nimble.
You need ears open, hands ready, and a heart that’s willing to move.
Get Nimble.
